los angeles RULES.

seriously, get thyself to los angeles as soon as physiologically possible. i didn't expect to love it, but i really really did. on my third day in LA, i felt more at ease walking around by myself than i do in phoenix after 4 months.

highlights:
Tokyo 7-7. picture a midwestern diner circa 1983. faux wood paneling, big brown ceramic coffee mugs. got a picture? now imagine that it's run by a japanese family, with quasi-traditional japanese food. and coffee. brilliant.

The Museum of Jurassic Technology. this is easily the most wonderfully insane place i've ever seen. it's a museum that's devoted to mad scientists, basically, with a russian tea room upstairs that never seems to actually serve tea. there were exhibits about the history of camper trailers, and the dogs of the soviet space program. sigh.

THE PACIFIC OCEAN. oh my god.

The Getty: ruth works here. the museum is pretty good, but the grounds are breathtaking. i took many, many pictures of the getty. go look!

LA is delightful. I'm kicking it up here in the Valley and lovin' it. We got a pool and dope pad for half or a third even of what we'd pay in Hollywood. Plus ample street parking! Contrary to popular misconception, public transportation is pretty dope around here and it's and not that hard to go carless. The city is probably the most diverse city on the planet. At the same time, LA is American as fuck. Strip malls and freeways. All nesteled in these beautiful desert hills by the ocean. It gets a lot of crap and definitely deserves some of it for sure, but like Biggie said, "y'all fools is a mess, thinkin' I'm gonna stop, givin' LA props."
