letters from iwo jima
i haven't updated in a while, you guys! mostly because nothing blog-worthy has really happened. life goes on. phoenix is BLOODY HOT (111 yesterday and today) and my job is still awesome. but here's something you should know: letters from iwo jima is a horrible movie. just horrible. i am baffled by the utter mediocrity of this movie. now, i'll admit it: my expectations were really high. it was nominated for an oscar. i loved flags of our fathers. but i was stunned. i literally thought that netflix had sent me the wrong movie. absolutely nothing happened. there was zero character development, which is a big problem for a war movie in which the first shot isn't fired until about 45 minutes in. i just don't get how it got such grand reviews. just horrible.
have any of you guys seen it? what do you think? what am i missing?

I haven't seen it, but now I know to avoid it at all costs.
I did see Knocked Up last weekend after your glowing recommendation. That was a fantastic movie! Very funny and serious and brilliantly acted. Seeing (some of) the Freaks and Geeks cast together again was just golden.
